Limelight - 6 November 2011

There was a nip in the November air, but the welcome was warm at the Commodore Inn, Grange-over-Sands. The bar remained open in the lavish surroundings of the upstairs function room, with its newly-restored grand piano. Joanne and her staff were wonderfully helpful and seemed mesmerised by the music! Above are just some of the performers - Deborah, Chris, Sue, Lewis, Jess, Patsy, Lucia, Doreen, Ella, Alistair and Keir. Some were unable to remain till the end. Others bashfully snuck away from the camera! Our wonderful accompanist Anthony Milledge contributed a Liszt Nocturne - really putting the piano through its paces!

We were delighted to see old Limelight friends and make new ones too.

The evening's music-making included recorders, singing, piano (two gorgeous solos and a toetapping duet), saxophones and clarinet. All the performers found something interesting to say about their pieces, which added to the audience's enjoyment. Music performed ranged from baroque through classical and romantic to modern and contemporary classical, traditional folk tunes and musical theatre. Though we missed our string- and brass-playing friends this time, we look forward to meeting up again at another Limelight soon! Could this mean YOU?!

We were a little short-handed on photographers, so regret we have just one group photo from the evening to share with you.
