Sunday 15 November - Coronation Hall, Ulverston

At the Coro on a rather rainy evening, a fine time was had by the assembled throng. We enjoyed music from singers and players of tenor horn, piano and guitar. Also, the Quiz was more than halfway do-able, according to many people present!

Sunday 20 September  - Parish Centre, Church Walk, Ulverston

Limelight returned to the Parish Centre on Church Walk, and we had a very entertaining evening. Music was provided by saxophones, tenor horn, French horn, violin, guitar, piano and singing, with a brilliant range of musical styles. Truly something for everyone!

Sunday 12 July  - Exams over, school nearly out, roll on, Summer!

We had a delightful gathering in the Supper Room, with music from violinists, pianists, singers and a tenor horn player. What a charming way to spend a summer evening!

Sunday 31 May  - end of school half-term!

Tonight's group experimented with the layout of the supper room...

Sunday 29 March 2015 - Coronation Hall, Ulverston

This Limelight was held in the beautiful main Coronation Hall. Our performers took to the stage with great style! Performances included two sung items, 4 saxophone items, 3 piano and one horn - yes Jodie, you're unique!

Sunday 25 January 2015 - Coronation Hall, Ulverston

A fabulous time was had by all, with a typical Limelight mix of performances.

Sunday 23 November 2014  - Coronation Hall, Ulverston

A particularly mellow, relaxed atmosphere pervaded our November event. We (the audience)  appreciated delightful performances from singers and players of piano, violin, saxophone, tenor horn and flute.

Sunday 21 September 2014 - Lecture Theatre, St Mary's Parish Centre, Ulverston

Our 21st Limelight took place on a mellow autumn evening of wonderful music from a great mix of performers. The quiz was most successful, with extremely enthusiastic participation! We enjoyed performances on piano, violin, voice, tenor horn and alto saxophone.

Sunday 20 July 2014 - Supper Room Coronation Hall, Ulverston

A wonderfully busy evening of fabulous music from a great mix of ages. We enjoyed terrific performances on piano, violin, voice, clarinet, tenor and French horns and alto saxophone. Thanks to performers and audience - have a great summer!

Sunday 25 May 2014 - Supper Room Coronation Hall, Ulverston

A great evening at the Coro with clarinet, voice, saxophones, violin and piano. There was lots to enjoy, even with a smallish group of performers to entertain our eager audience. Someone said: 'It gave me more time to perform!" Just so!

Sunday 23 March 2014 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

A wonderful evening was had! We enjoyed a terrific variety of performances, given by 6 violinists, 5 pianists, 4 singers, 2 saxophonists and a tenor horn player. Along with some well-loved classical favourites we experienced more unusual musical choices too. Composers performed their own music and we even had a world première! New and familiar friends had a great time with a wonderful range of musical delights!

Sunday 26 January 2014 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

A full Supper Room created a delightful, friendly evening of music-making. Three violinists, two pianists, two saxophonists, four singers, a horn player and a clarinettist produced wonderful music in different styles for us to enjoy. Adrian made a fine Limelight debut as accompanist, ably stepping in when our usual accompanist was unwell. Donizetti featured in 2 performers' selections and also in the quiz - it must have been something in the air!

Sunday 3 November 2013 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

A cold night outside, with the Supper room was cosy and the Limelight atmosphere was warm! We enjoyed vibrant performances on violin, piano, clarinet, horn, saxophone and singing. The variety was fantastic - with folk tunes, core classical works by Mozart & Schubert, Romantic composers Strauss and MacDowell and jazzier pieces by Cole Porter, Gershwin and DeRose… The audience was fantastic in their warmth and obvious enjoyment of the music. Thanks everyone!

Sunday 15 September 2013 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

Back to school! A select group were able to participate in the September event as performers and audience, with some new audience members. We enjoyed varied items from our performers on piano, tenor horn, Soprano and alto saxophones, clarinet and singing.

Sunday 7 July 2013 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

A sweltering summer's evening in Ulverston, and a warm Limelight atmosphere upstairs in the thankfully cool Coronation Hall! We had fabulous music on piano, violin, saxophone, clarinet and voice. In fact, with Ian and Keith's contributions, it could be termed the Night of the Tenors! Thanks especially to Lewis and Macius who helped clear away the cakes at the end!

Sunday 19 May 2013 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

Delights on this sunny evening included a vocal quartet, two vocal solos, three saxes, three violins, two piano items and a clarinet. No partridge in a pear tree, though. Lewis won tonight's quiz - congratulations!

Sunday 10 March 2013 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

A wonderful evening with a deluge of terrific singers including a four-part Purcell chorus! Friends old and new performed on saxophone, clarinet, piano, violin and horn.

Sunday 27 January 2013 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

New year performances included piano, horn, violin, singing, clarinet, saxophone and a sparkling clarinet, viola and piano trio.

Sunday 18 November 2012 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

Magic at the Coro! Our tenth gathering included musical offerings on saxophone, tenor horn, clarinet, piano, violin and voice. Gosh, our Limelighters are loyal: one musician was there on her birthday and one was just out of hospital! We were also joined by our youngest ever participant: audience member Dominic who was just three! The appreciative audience delighted in the performers' contributions!

Sunday 23 September 2012 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

A busy evening at the Coro - our performers took the opportunity to play and practise being interviewed in front of an audience! The ability to speak coherently about one's music is an important skill for a musician - Jodie, Patsy, Jess and Nicolas were brilliant. Their comments about their music were greatly enjoyed by the interested audience!

Sunday 8 July 2012 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

A lovely summery evening and a full house, with more new Limelight friends, both performing and in the audience. We enjoyed twelve musical offerings, on violin, piano, voice, tenor horn, clarinet and saxophone. A wonderfully warm and appreciative audience performed marvellously too!

Sunday 13 May 2012 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

Less than a month after the previous Limelight (at Grange), forty five people turned out for a wonderful, varied evening. The fabulous music-making featured exponents on violin, piano, voice, saxophone, clarinet, horn and euphonium, including familiar faces and a couple of Limelight debut appearances. On a practical note, Richard was most impressed at the efficiency of the volunteer piano-team at the end of the evening: thanks, everyone!

Sunday 22 April 2012 - Commodore Inn, Grange-over-Sands

Back to the Comm for a great night with friends old and new! We were delighted to have solos and ensembles, pianists, singers, saxophonists, clarinettists, a horn player and a euphonium player! Des and his friends contributed a most unusual Pie Jesu from Fauré's Requiem - on soprano sax, euphonium and piano! We had exciting modern solos on piano and sax from David, and sax from Jess, and marked Kathleen Ferrier's centenary in true Limelight style by doing something musical together: an impromptu massed sing of Blow the Wind Southerly

Sunday 18th March 2012 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

Records broken again, with 20 fantastic musical items. A marvellous evening had by all with wonderful and unusual items (yes Doreen and Muriel, that means your duet!).

Sunday 15 January 2012 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

Our biggest event so far, with 18 marvellous performances, including three duets and a quintet! Piano, voice, violin, cello, tenor horn, clarinet and saxophone were all represented.

Sunday 6 November 2011 - Commodore Inn, Grange-over-Sands

There was a nip in the November air, but the welcome was warm at the Commodore Inn, Grange-over-Sands. The bar was open in the lavish surroundings of the upstairs function room, with its newly-restored grand piano. Joanne and her staff were wonderfully helpful and seemed mesmerised by all the music!

Sunday 11 September 2011 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

We had a wonderful evening's music, with thirteen performances: two violinists, a clarinet and a saxophone, four pianists and five singers, including an operatic duet: thanks, Naomi & James, or should I say, Leonora and Florestan?!! The music performed was wide-ranging: folksong arrangements, baroque, classical, romantic, modern, film music and jazz! Anthony Milledge was a fine accompanist and contributed a delightful performance of Debussy's Minstrels. The Mayor of Ulverston, Councillor Pat Jones, dropped in to catch the end and is now a Limelight supporter!

Sunday 3 July 2011 - Supper Room, Coronation Hall, Ulverston

15 performances delighted a friendly Supper Room of music-lovers on a balmy summer evening. Deborah welcomed everyone and soon got them taking an active part in the evening's proceedings, with an introduction to concert performance: in groups we took turns to applaud each other and acknowledge the applause. We were then treated to performances from pianists, wind players (flute, clarinet, sax, tenor horn, tuba) strings ('cello) and singers, of all ages from 8 to senior, with a wide range of music from baroque to contemporary. All were warmly received. There were several witty performances and also a touching moment as Adam presented his tribute to the late Goff Richards. Accompanist for the evening was Anthony Milledge, who fulfilled his role perfectly, even contributing a lovely rendition of a Rachmaninov piano prelude to the evening's proceedings.
